Are We Looking At The Upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco?

ford bronco (4)

Ford earlier said that the Ford Bronco would arrive in 2020 and the new Ranger a year before that. And though we’re all excited on what could possibly be in store for us in the next two years, no details have been released and we’re left to imagine how the Bronco would look like.

You can’t really blame car enthusiasts because this is the first time Ford is diving into the new midsize trucks competition. The Bronco will give the Chevrolet Colorado, the Toyota Tacoma, and the Jeep Wrangler a run for their money… and yet, that’s not until 2020.

We kept on thinking how the new Bronco would like. Would it be similar to the concept Ford showed off in 2004 or how about the Brazilian-market Ford Troller, which has a boxy and utilitarian off-road look? Then again, there’s the Ranger-based Everest, a family-friendly SUV.

The spy photos shown here look like a warmed-over, right-handed Everest, which is why a lot of Bronco enthusiasts are scared that it is what exactly we might be getting in 2020. Raj Nair, Ford’s chief technical officer, was quick to clarify these reports. Back in January, he told Autoline that Ford does not plan to make the Bronco similar to the Everest.

The new Bronco will be completely “unique” from the Everest, he said. The front end was covered in checkered camouflage, so we’re thinking Ford doesn’t want us to see something new on the front. But since most of the SUV is undisguised, we’re sure the production model would look very different.

For now, as mentioned by an “inside source” a few months ago, we can assume that the new Bronco would look similar to Brazil’s Troller, albeit the former will be a four-door version. Although we would love to see a two-door Bronco, there’s not much market for a two-door midsize SUV, so we’ll be contented with a four-door version if that’s what it takes.

How Much Do The 2018 Ford Mustang Models Cost?

Ford Mustang (1)

Although the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 remains on top of everybody’s list of their favorite muscle cars, Ford is not backing out without a fight as it revealed its sixth-generation Mustang with rear suspension and elegant interior. Compared to the Camaro, the new Ford Mustang has more power, options and features.

The Mustang EcoBoost is driving away from using a V-6 engine and now has a four-cylinder engine as Ford’s entry-level Mustang. The starting price is $26,485, an increase of a measly $400 compared to the entry-level Mustang last year that still packed the ratty V-6 model. The 2.3-liter engine can produce 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

The GT version, which has displacement and aural theater, costs $35,995. Powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, the GT version of the 2018 Ford Mustang is priced $1,900 more than the 2017 Mustang GT, though that means 460 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque. That’s 25 more horsepower and 20 more pound-feet of torque. The power that comes from the V-8 engine can top the Camaro SS V-8, further fueling the competition between the two brands.

If you prefer the convertible versions of both the EcoBoost and the GT models, you can shell out $5,500 more for the EcoBoost and $9,500 more for the GT.

Regardless of your choice for powertrain, you can opt for Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission for $1,595. The interior of both muscle cars can be upgraded to a Premium model whose price will be in the vicinity of $4,000 to $5,000. The Premium interior will bring an Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Sync 3, selectable driving modes, aluminum interior trim, leather-trimmed seating, and 18-inch wheels on the EcoBoost models.

Aside from the Premium package for the cabin, there’s also a Performance package for those who want more power. EcoBoost owners can pay an extra $2,495 for an additional 3.55:1 Torsen limited-slip rear end, larger radiator, revised chassis tuning, 19-inch aluminum wheels, and upsized brake discs with four-piston calipers.

GT model owners, on the other hand, need to shell out $3,995 more. Aside from the EcoBoost Performance package, the GT will also get 19-inch wheels, the 3.73:1 Torsen differential for stick-shift cars, and Brembo six-piston front brakes.

Very Rare Ford RS200 Evo 2 Wrecked in Goodwood

ford rs200 evo 2

For being one of the 24 examples ever created during its production run, it is certainly sad to see a very rare Ford RS200 Evo 2 get wrecked. During a practice on June 29 for the weekend timed runs of the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, one driver smashed the car into a stack of hay and totaled its rear.

According to The Drive, British rallycross veteran Pat Doran was driving the Ford RS200 Evo 2 during the event. The incident took place when he was making a quick sharp turn at the dreaded Molecomb corner of the track. His car went out of control and collided its rear into a pile of hay before hitting its nose on another heap, which eventually stopped the vehicle’s momentum.

Luckily, Doran was safe but the exterior of the car’s rear was ripped off. The front end also suffered significant amount of damage.

It didn’t take long for the mechanics to repair the Ford RS200 Evo 2 though. Less than 24 hours later, the car was already fixed and in good running condition.

Not hindered by his mishap, Doran made a second run up the hill. In his next attempt, he finished the course in just 55.91 seconds.

Only 20 of the Ford RS200 Evo 2 were made during the model’s initial production run. Later, four more were added. The newer models of the car ditched the 1.8-liter straight-four engine in favor of the 2.1-liter inline-four unit. The output of the updated model was at 600 hp.

Basing on several auctions not so long ago, the car sells around half a million dollars. Gooding and Company sold one at Pebble Beach for $539,000 in 2015. After that, another was sold by RM Sotheby’s for $522,500 at Amelia Island in 2016.

2018 Ford Mustang GT Gets 7,500 RPM

ford mustang gt (1)

A new Ford Mustang GT is currently being tested. Spy shots of the car have surfaced a week ago giving us a preview of its external features. One of the leaked photos take us to the interior of the car, which reveal the revolutions per minute or rpm of its engine.

According to Fox News Auto, the new Mustang GT will bear a 2018 model year. The exterior upgrades include sleeker hood, revised headlamps and lower suspension.

What’s more interesting was the information revealed by the spy pictures of the car’s interior. The analog tachometer of the vehicle indicates that it is capable of generating 7,500 rpm.

Reports said the 2018 Mustang GT will get Ford’s updated 5.0-liter V8 engine. The unit is rumored to offer more power than the current one’s 435 hp. The new port, direct fuel injection and new intake system based on the Shelby GT 350’s 5.2-liter V8 are expected to bring about the boost in the output of the auto.

The new data hinted by the spy shot complements the concept of Ford for the new digital instrument cluster of the Mustang GT, which was released in January. The display of the rendering show up to 7,500 rpm while the car makes use of its Sport+ mode.

The source also claimed that the power of the Mustang GT will likely be distributed via a 10-speed automatic transmission similar to the one utilized by the F 150. Those who want the manual shifting process can opt for the re-engineered six-speed manual transmission of Ford.

The 2018 Mustang GT is will most probably hit the market by fall this year. In 2016, the Mustang was the best-selling sports car in the United States. The brand sold 105,000 units in the country. It outperformed its rival the Chevrolet Camaro by 30,000 last year.

3 Things to Know About the 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

2018 Ford Mustang GT500 (1)

The 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been spotted making its rounds in a testing facility. The car is expected to be the most powerful Mustang in Ford’s lineup.

In our previous article, we have featured the five most powerful American cars wherein the 2014 model of the Shelby GT500 landed in the number four spot, thanks to its 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine with 662 hp. The 2018 model will likely surpass that based on sources.

Check out the 3 things we learned about the upcoming car based on several reliable sources:

1. Engine

The new Shelby GT500 might benefit from the 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 engine carried by the GT350. However, the GT500’s engine will possibly be a supercharged version of the unit with a 90-degree crankshaft compared to the GT350’s 180-degree piece. Other reports also speculate that it will get a twin turbo version. Look forward to its output being at least 700 hp.

The power of the car will most probably be distributed via a six-speed transmission for its standard model. A 10-speed automatic transmission gearbox co-developed by Ford and General Motors for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 might be optional.

2. Design

The 2018 Shelby GT500 is predicted to adopt the updated styling of Mustang Shelby models except the GT350. Since the GT500 sits above its siblings, it will definitely feature a more aggressive look with huge air intakes, wider fenders, sportier diffuser, angrier front bumpers and bigger tires.

3. Pricing

We might see the new Shelby GT500 before the current year ends. It will likely have a starting price tag somewhere around the $65,000 mark.

The auto will come as Ford’s response to the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, BMW M4, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

5 Most Powerful American Cars and SUVs Today

Earlier, we have discussed how automotive experts wanted the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon banned from the roads. They are worried that its ridiculously high output might trigger reckless drivers. That is subject for debate though.

For now, let us take a look at where the Dodge Demon falls under the 5 most powerful American cars and sport utility vehicles today based on an article from Fox News Auto.

1. 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon

dodge challenger srt demon

Unsurprisingly, the Demon falls into first place, thanks to its 6.2-liter V8 engine that can produce up to 808 hp. As if that’s not yet high enough, the source said that pumping the vehicle with 100 octane race gas can raise its output to 840 hp.

2. Dodge Challenger/Charger SRT Hellcat

hellcat

The Hellcats each carry a 6.2-liter V8 unit. The engine packs 707 hp. The Challenger model is capable of getting a top speed of 199 mph while the more aerodynamically-built Charger can take up to 204 mph.

3. 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

2018 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is considered as the most powerful in the SUV segment. The auto shares the same engine as the Hellcat, which is good for 707 hp. The vehicle only falls a bit short in the torque department compared to the Hellcat. The Trackhawk has 645 lb-ft of torque while the Hellcat has 650 lb-ft. The SUV also boasts an all-wheel drive system.

4. 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

mustang shelby gt500

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 packs a 5.8-liter supercharged V8 engine. The output of the unit is 662 hp and it can reach up to 202 mph.

5. 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z06/Camaron ZL1

camaro zl1

Tying in the fifth place of this list are the Chevrolet Camaro Z06 and the Camaro ZL1. Each car is equipped with 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 650 hp. The ZL1 has faster shift times than the Z06 though as it has a 10-speed automatic gearbox compared to its sibling’s eight-speed unit.

66 Photos of the 2017 Ford GT

2017 Ford GT (42)

Do you remember that two years ago Ford announced a 2017 Ford GT, which the company touted to have “one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car”? It took eons for Ford to finally complete this one, but they’ve really been busy with races at Le Mans, and in China and japan.

Thankfully, Raj Nair, Ford’s top tech officer, took time to focus on the GT before the Daytona 24-hour endurance race takes much of his attention.

Powertrain

For two years, we have waited for how powerful the GT is going to be, and here is it, finally: it will be fitted with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that can produce an astounding 647 horsepower at 6250 rpm and a maximum of 550 lb-ft of torque at 5900 rpm with 495 lb-ft available at 3500 rpm.

The use of a V-6 engine disappoints some sectors since everyone was expecting a V-8 after two years of preparation and waiting. However, this specific engine tops that of the Porsche 911 Turbo’s twin-turbo flat-six. The GT’s V-6 has a specific output of 185 horsepower per liter of gas.

Fuel economy

Ford has been boasting of the GT’s anti-lag strategy, and that’s really fine because we’re sure racers would love to be behind a car that keeps the turbines spinning during shifts and lift-throttle moments when accelerating after a turn.

There is a downside to this, though. The EPA mileage ratings are horrible, even worse than the V-10 Dodge Viper. It has a rating of 11 mpg city, 18 highway and 14 combined, though we doubt this can stop fans from shelling out for the GT.

Power-Weight Equation

The most important feature is Nair’s reported dry figure of 3054 pounds, falling between its primary competitors in the McLaren 675LT and the Ferrari 488GTB. With 200 pounds for fluid, that means the GT weighs an estimated 3250 pounds, falling far below the Corvette Grand Sport.

This allows the GT to have a top speed of 216 mph, which should be enough to have it battle with Europe’s hottest cars, except for Bugatti’s Chiron, the Koenigsegg Agera, the Lamborghini Aventador SV, and Pagani’s Huayra.

4 Important Stuff About The 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible

2018 ford mustang convertible (1)

Shortly after Ford made changes on its Mustang Coupe and introduced it to the public, they are now giving the same significant changes to its Mustang Convertible. However, there’ll be a long wait before you’re able to get your hands on this toy.

The 2018 Ford Mustang Convertible will be available starting this fall according to a report.

2018 ford mustang convertible (2)

Powertrain

The biggest change for the 2018 Mustang Convertible happens under the hood, with a 10-speed automatic instead of the usual six-speed transmission. Also getting upgrades are the two Mustang Convertible options: the 2.3-liter 4-cylinder and the 5.0-liter V-8 engines.

We still don’t know what changes will come for the 2.3-liter though we are quite sure that the 5.0-liter will add direct injection for a boost in power.

Suspension

Aside from the changes on the powertrains, the new Convertible will also have the MagneRide suspension and active valve exhaust will be an option. With the use of magnetorheological shocks, the metal-infused fluid in the suspension makes the shocks firmer when giving an electric charge.

This suspension system is included in the Performance package for the coupe, so we’re assuming \it will be the same here.

Interior

Same with the Coupe, the Convertible will get a 12-inch customizable digital instrument cluster, which has a MyMode memory function that can remember your driving preferences. For the safety features, there’s the forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and emergency braking.

Exterior

The Convertible follows the Coupe’s change in designs with the new front end and rear end. The Convertible, in particular will have resculpted headlights, a lower fascia that flares out, and a more complex outer air intakes.

Ford will offer the car in three new color options. There will also be a choice of 12 different wheel designs, so owners can customize each Mustang Convertible through their color and wheel options.

3 Things Worth Pointing Out About The Avatar Roadster

avatar roadster

Avatar is a British sports car startup that has just introduced its very first production car—the Avatar Roadster. The sports car packs a Ford EcoBoost engine and its spaceframe chassis. Not bad for a first car, though it’s a little steep on the prices.

According to a report, this particular model will make its live appearance at the 2017 Performance Car Show in Birmingham, UK. It’s interesting how the production came about when Avatar just introduced its prototype last year. That was some pretty fast engineering.

1. Ford EcoBoost Engine Is The Base Model

Possibly the base model, the initial stage of the Avatar Roadster packs the 2.0 turbocharged Ford EcoBoost engine that packs 250 horsepower (186 kilowatts), which we now see is similar to the Ford ST credits. It has a dry weight of just 695 kilograms (1,532 pounds), allowing the Roadster to go 0-60mph in four seconds. The maximum speed is 145mph.

2. Focus RS Has More Power

If you are looking for a stronger engine, you may want to look at the Focus RS-based model that has a 2.30liter turbocharged that can go 0-60mph in just 3.6 seconds. This is paired with a six-speed manual transmission or the optional seven-speed paddle-shift sequential racing gearbox.

3. Interior Is Packed To The Brim

The lightweightedness of the vehicle makes us think that it will simply pack the standard interior features, but we are wrong. The Avatar Roadster has a techy and modern interior that is also comfortable, thanks to the full-leather interior, heater, and air conditioning.

As for the tech stuff, it comes with the Apple CarPlay and the Android Auto in standard trim. If you want the roof, you will have to pay extra for that. Avatar also boasts of a full suite of “pure track experience.” The package includes fire extinguisher, data logger, and GoPro HD camera compatibility.

The Avatar Roadster will be sold for £39,990 ($48,603).
