Baby Porsche Panamera Could Be The Future All-Electric Mission E
There are reports that the baby Porsche Panamera mule, nicknamed the Pajun, could be the development car for the all-electric Mission E. The appearance of the mule in spy photos proved speculations that the development of the Pajun is back on track after it was shelved in 2014.
Apparently, the Pajun will be arriving in 2019. It is just in time for the planned launch of the production Mission E, which Porsche plans to sell before the end of the decade as a rival to the Tesla Model S. With this coincidence, there are now talks that despite the exhaust tailpipes on the Porsche Panamera mule, this could very well be the foundation for the Mission E.
This isn’t such a surprise as car makers have, for years, tried to lure their competitors through false pretenses. The tailpipes could very well be there to confuse the stockholders in the market, as well as to hide what’s really under the mule’s body.
This latest sighting pushed the luxury automaker company to remain even more mum about the Panamera mule and the possibility that it could be the all-electric Mission E. This attitude has only led sources and experts to believe that the latest photos showed the Mission E in an advanced development stage—road-based testing.
It would only mean that the German automaker is right on schedule to debut the all-electric vehicle by 2019. This would be the perfect time to give the Tesla Model S a run for its money.
We don’t have exact details yet of the technical specifications that the Mission E will come packed with, but expect the vehicle to have a lithium ion battery that can power the car to a range of more than 330 miles. Combined with two electric motors, Porsche’s all-electric car can go 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
Spy Shots of the 2018 Porsche Cayenne
It looks like the current Porsche Cayenne is nearing the end of its production life since a new one has been spotted out and about being tested in prototype form. Although the new SUV was covered in camouflage, we can still make out the general shape of this third-generation Porsche Cayenne.
By the looks of it in the spy shots, this model has a sleeker look with a longer and flatter roof. The styling was based on Porsche’s Panamera Sport Turismo concept from 2012, as well as the Macan SUV. The new Cayenne will also adopt Macan’s clamshell hood, wraparound tail-lights, and the Panamera Sport Turismo concept’s C-shaped fender vent and front air intakes.
Inside, it should have the same styling as the current Cayenne, though with less physical buttons because of an improved touchscreen interface. We should also expect this new model to have improved infotainment and connectivity options, as well as electronic driver aids with semi-autonomous features.
In terms of dynamics, fuel efficiency and performance, the new model is based on Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, which made its debut with the 2017 Audi Q7 and appeared in the 2017 Bentley Bentayga. We expect it to see in the next VW Touareg and the Lamborghini Urus SUV.
The platform will make the new Cayenne lighter in weight but with improved rigidity, thanks to its combination of high-strength steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. The 2018 Cayenne will weigh 220 pounds less than the current model, which is at 4,500 pounds.
As for powertrains, the new Cayenne will have the same engine as the current model, meaning a naturally-aspirated V-6 for the base model, a turbocharged V-6 for the mid-range Cayenne S, a plug-in hybrid for the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, and a twin-turbocharged V-8 for the Cayenne Turbo.
It is still not clear if the new Cayenne will offer a diesel option in the United States, especially after the VW Group’s diesel emissions scandal that affected the Cayenne Diesel.
2017 Porsche Panamera To Start At $100,950
Isn’t it only this week that Porsche released information about its new Panamera? We argued about the pricing, but here we are releasing details for all the world to see.
Porsche said the Panamera 4S will have a starting price of $100,950. This will even include the destination charge of $1,050.
The Panamera 4S is to be powered by a new 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that produces 440 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Reportedly, it can go 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds when ordered with the Sport Chrono package.
But for the Panamera Turbo, you’ll have to spend $147,950, including the destination fee. This one features a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that can churn out 550 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque. To save fuel, the Turbo is also equipped with cylinder deactivation system that can shut down four cylinders under light load condition.
The Turbo is expected to reach 60 mph from standstill in just 3.4 seconds. Again, this can be done with the Sport Chrono package.
Aside from the aforementioned features, the Turbo will also be packing new three-chamber air suspension and 20-inch wheels compared to the 4S’ 19-inch ones. For those looking for bigger wheels, Porsche has a package with 21 inches.
Inside, there’s a four-zone climate control system that can also be controlled by rear passengers, thanks to a rear control screen that also displays infotainment functions. This is a cool addition to the already standard panoramic sunroof, massaging seats, ambient lighting, and the Burmester 3D sound system.
Furthermore, the Sport Chrono package includes a launch control, a Sport Plus button to tune the engine and chassis, an analog and digital stopwatch, and a performance display, among others.
Optional to the Panamera are the new Night Vision Assistant and InnoDrive system, which features adaptive cruise control, optimal acceleration and deceleration rates, coasting phases for the next 1.8 miles, and gear selections.
Is A 700-Horsepower Porsche Panamera Coming?
Porsche has finally unveiled its new Panamera this week. The supercar will come with a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that produces 550 horsepower on a stylish four-door Porsche.
According to Motor Authority, there’s more to come because Porsche has employed the trickle-down technology that was first seen on the 918 Spyder hypercar. Apparently, there would be a 700-horsepower Panamera version with a hybrid powertrain that combines the V-8 engine with an electric motor.
Speculations said that this Panamera version will be called the Panamera Turbo S Hybrid since Porsche generally uses the Turbo S nomenclature for its top-of-the-lines.
The trickle-down technology mentioned above refers to how the 918 Spyder featured a 4.6-liter V-8-partnered with a pair of electric motors that can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
Currently, Porsche is offering a hybrid version of the Panamera, and it has been doing so for quite some time. The current Panamera S E-Hybrid can deliver 416 horsepower from its 3.0-liter V-6 engine and 95-horsepower electric motor.
The company has yet to announce a new hybrid version for this Panamera model, but there has been some spotted testing of what appears to be a fresh Panamera hybrid. Reports said the new hybrid Panamera will be a plug-in version as evidenced by fuel filler caps on both sides of the vehicle (one is for the charging port).
The new hybrid will likely share the V-6 engine with its predecessor. It will be mated with an electric motor, which will have more power than the current S E-Hybrid’s 416 horsepower. It is also expected to be lighter and to have a higher-capacity battery than the previous one’s ability to travel 22 miles on a single charge on a 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.
The Panamera will hit the European market later this year while Americans can expect it to arrive by January next year.
Spy Shots Of 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 Leaked
Everyone thought that Porsche was testing a more extreme version of the latest 911 GT3 when spy photos of a new prototype resembling the car came out. However, the company clarified that it’s an early tease for the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2.
Andreas Preuninger, 911’s chief engineer, confirmed through a report that the 911 GT2 will be part of the 991-series 911 family. The company, in fact, already has mules out on the streets for the next generation car.
At the front, this car would most likely have a larger intake than those on the GT3 RS while at the rear, the hidden vents are on either side of the bumper, typically indicating a turbocharged engine. These cannot be found on the GT3 RS.
We can expect the GT2 to have the same engine as the 911 Turbo, albeit with more power. If it will have the latest Turbo S, which can now deliver 580 horsepower from the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six, then the GT2 could crank up to 620 hp.
The release of a GT2 would be late, in all honestly, so some are even expecting Porsche to just skip ahead to the GT2 RS. If the brand does this, it should be ready to power the GT2 RS with a capacity of 660 hp. The previous GT2 RS already had 620 hp, remember.
All of this power can be found on the rear wheels, and via a most likely seven-speed manual clutch transmission. Since the 911 models have four-wheel steering system, the GT2 will probably also come packed with this feature.
There were talks that the GT2 would officially come to the end of its production, especially because the Turbo models are offering better performance than previous GT2s. The rear-wheel-drive layout of the GT2 can also be a challenge for some people, but aren’t we glad Porsche didn’t give in to the temptation.
The GT2 will be released in 2018.
2017 Porsche Boxster 718 Facelifted, Has New Energy-Efficient Engine
First introduced in 1996, the 1997-2004 Porsche Boxster was an entry-level, mid-engine sports car that wasn’t warmly welcomed until enthusiasts slowly grew to love it. That was until the Cayenne SUV was launched in 2003.
Twenty years forward, the Boxster is receiving a facelift. According to sources, the Boxster will ditch the naturally-aspirated engine for turbocharged units much like the 911 Carrera. It will help reduce its emission and improve efficiency. It will also be the first Porsche sports car to use a four-cylinder engine in decades.
With these changes, the Boxster will now be called the 718 Boxster. This may be new to the Boxster, but this isn’t new to the Germans who used the nameplate for a lightweight sports car built between 1957 and 1962.
For the exterior, every panel of the new Boxster will be redesigned, except for the luggage compartment lids, the windshield, and the convertible top. Major changes include a wider front end with a new bumper section, as well as larger side intakes, mounted LED daytime running lights, reshaped center grille, Porsche’s new bi-xenon headlamps, and the optional units with four-point DRLs.
At the back, there are new taillights because of the 3D LED technology. In addition, there are four-point brake lights, a black strip with the Porsche lettering, and the 718 Boxster badge, of course.
Porsche has yet to release new details about the 718 Boxster, but it looked like it would be available in Lava Orange hue as seen on the 911 GT3 RS.
Inside, not much has changed, except that the Porsche added a standard Communication Management System featuring cell phone integration, audio interfaces, and a 110-watt Sound Package Plus.
Clients also have the option to add a navigation module with voice control, as well as the Connect Plus module for access to a wide array of online services.
The drivetrain is where Porsche made radical changes. The base 718 Boxster will have turbocharged, 2.0-liter producing 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The turbocharging will make the 718 Boxster 14 percent more efficient.
That base model can go 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds for manual and 4.7 seconds with the PDK. The 718 Boxster S will be more impressive, if that’s even possible.
The new 718 Boxster starts from $56,000, while the 718 Boxster S retails from $68,400.
Is The Porsche Macan Coming To The US?
A few years back, Porsche introduced the Macan, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is second to none. It did not confirm back then if the Macan will be available for US consumers so US-based Porsche lovers were left to wonder.
On the other hand, an entry-level Macan, of course, is accessible for certain global market while the UK certainly has it out in the market already.
But now, it looks like Porsche finally decided to bring the Macan to US shores, according to well-placed insiders and sources. We have to wait for an official announcement, as well as more information about that, though.
For those who are not familiar, the Macan houses a corporate VW Group inline four-cylinder engine, and not the turbocharged flat-four used by the new 718 Boxster sports car. Still, that turbo four engine makes 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with a seven-speed and dual-clutch automatic.
Up until now, the regular Macan you will see in the US is the S version, which is powered by a 340-hp twin-turbocharged V-6. There are two other variants—the Macan Turbo with a 400-hp power on its twin-turbo V-6 and the ultra sporty Macan GTS.
More than power, Porsche Macan also improved its fuel economy. The V-6 diesel model, which would most likely face challenges because of emission testing, will probably arrive in the US sometime this year too.
If you base your judgement on specs alone, the four-cylinder engine Macan utilized is similar to the unit placed on the 2017 Audi A4. But remember that the Porsche is way heavier than the Audi A4 so it remains to be seen how the engine will fit in a much heavier body.
This machine should definitely have a price lower than $50,000 since the Macan S starts at $53,650.00.
2017 Porsche 911 R Is The 911 GT3 We’ve All Been Waiting For
Porsche’s 911 GT3 was welcomed with a lukewarm response despite having one of the best automatic transmission ever built mainly because Porsche purists are looking for a track-ready Porsche 911 with a manual gearbox.
Although the Porsche 911 GT3 shifts amazingly quick and was tuned to deliver fast lap times around the race track, there was still nothing better than a car with three pedals and a stick. Thankfully, the new Porsche 911 R is making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show today.
New images have already been leaked of this manual transmission 911 R, but there’s also another that set this thing apart from the 911 GT3—the 911 R has no rear wing.
In terms of exterior, these two exteriors are identical to each other except for the fact that the Porsche 911 R has no rear wing. But overall, they have the same bumpers, rear fenders, wheels, side skirts and mirrors.
The only thing that sets the 911 R apart is the engine lid, which has a conventional grille and retractable spoiler taken from the Porsche Carrera models. It also has a redesigned front spoiler lip and rear underbody diffuser.
Inside, the 911 R features a sporty interior with few comfort features just like the standard 911. Some other interior elements are bucket seats, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and lightweight door panels.
For the 911 R, Porsche used the larger, 4.0-liter in the GT3 RS. The output is similar to the RS with 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. The biggest change, of course, is that the 911 R shifted to a manual gearbox with no option for an automatic transmission.
The Porsche 911 R is made for race track purists, but the manual transmission came with disadvantages, too. The 0-60 mph is achieved in 3.7 seconds. This falls behind the GT3 and GT3 RS, which can complete it in 3.3 and 3.1 seconds, respectively.
The Porsche 911 R will probably sell for $120,000. Only 600 units will be produced.
Get ready for the ultimate object of desire Porsche Cayenne 2017
There is never a dull day in our favorite world of machines. With every crack of the dawn, there is a new piece of story waiting to tickle our appetite for spice. Of course, we are not complaining. It is this spiced up world that we are all so fond of, it is this jazz that keeps us going. Which is exactly the reason why when we heard Porsche Cayenne 2017 is under making to amaze us, we couldn’t contain our excitement and thought of sharing it with everyone who has an ear for great news.
So, if you have been following what the chic car brand has been up to, you will know that the second generation Porsche Cayenne was unveiled in October at the prestigious Paris Motor Show 2014. Those who were present there were of course drooling and wondering at the same time – will the upcoming Porsche Cayenne 2017 be a lot different from what we are expecting it to be.
The deal here is that the air is packed with speculations. There are a lot of rumors doing rounds and it is very difficult to place your hand on one thing and believe that it is true. So, due to the lack of any confirmation, let us just go with the fact that the 2017 is going to be mind blowing. What makes us say that? Well, it is because we have seen signs of magnificence and we are expecting nothing short of a stunner. The first thing that caught our eyes was the all new steering and the S-trim with a hybrid feel. By all means, it appeared to be lighter than all its previous versions and that has got us even more hopeful about the third generation Porsche Cayenne 2017.
Now let us get to know the new machine a little better than we already do. The upcoming Porsche Cayenne 2017 is likely to adhere to the ultimately novel platform set by Volkswagen. And, mind you, it is not the only one here. There are many machines all set to share the platform with this one and all of these are strong contenders we must say. The Detroit motor show is going to present these to the world as early as January 2015, however, it will be a long wait before these will reach the market. Some of the amazing names that are mentioned in the same breath are SUV by Bentley, Lamborghini Urus and many more like Audi Q7.
Experts are of the view that the redesigned Porsche Cayenne 2017 is expected to sweep everyone off the floor, for it is at least 100 kgs lighter than the model that is running on the roads, not to mention the re-touched front, a grander grille and more defined and macho wheel curves. Even the bonnet has been revamped and it already looks quite a sight, even though there is only so much we know about it!
2015 Porsche Macan SUV: Small Luxury SUV with Incredible Performance
Thriving high on the success of the midsized Cayenne Crossover SUV, Porsche is leaving no stone unturned to make a grand entry in futuristic SUV segment. Although, it has been only a while when company made its way in the world of compact crossovers to expand its family of luxury cars, but has become a reckoned name when it comes to buying performance oriented small sized crossovers. Come 2015 and Porsche is all set to take SUV market by tide with its 2015 Porsche Macan, which is small in size and also light on the pockets of its perspective customers. Iconic crest shaped hood emblem of Porsche is worthy of every penny spent on it because it comes packed with speed, agile handling and engaging driving character which a car lover would expect from any of the Porsche car like 911 and Cayenne.
Some of the components of 2015 Porsche Macan might seem similar to 2014 Audi Q5, but it comes with its own engine, styling and suspension design, which makes it stand out from the crowd. Apart from that, Porsche ahs engineered the new Macan in such a way that it will drive more like a rear wheel drive car, which is usually not common among many premium brand crossovers. The standard all wheel drive dynamic of Macan is engineered in such a way that most of the engine’s power can be directed to the rear wheels, whereas the front wheels will receive only redirected power which is usually needed to sustain traction.
The main source of power generation in 2015 Porsche Macan is one of the two available V6 engines. For Macan S, Porsche has offered turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine with 340 HP, whereas the Macan Turbo comes with turbocharged 3.6 liter V6 with 400 HP, which has been stipulated as by far the most powerful engine one can find in a small size crossover SUV. Quick shifting manual transmission comes as a standard feature with all trim levels just the way Porsche offers with its sports cars. For those who love sport SUVs, Porsche has also made a sport tuned suspension version of Macan which comes with optional features like power gripped summer rated tires for improved performance, adaptive suspension, rear differential torque vectoring, all these features are not very common among this class of SUVs and are also beneficial for its handling abilities. Optional air suspension is quite good as it increases Macans’ ride height almost by 9.1 inches thus bolstering its capability especially on the dirt trails.
You can ensure that the hardware used for producing such class product is not of cheap quality, which has made considerable increase in the Porsche Macan’s price making it an expensive luxury crossover. Going by these lines the closest competitor for 2015 Porsche Macan is the Audi SQ5, which can give it tough competition in terms of price, performance and technology. For a lesser value competitor, 2014 BMW X3 is still arguably the best choice. Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is also an option to be considered as a cheap alternative. But if you are looking for performance and luxury in a small crossover, then there can be nothing better than 2015 Porsche Macan.
