2017 Infiniti Q60 Has A Starting Price Of $39,855
Finally, Infiniti has announced pricing for its two-door 2017 Q60 sport coupe. The starting price is $39,855, though this can rise to about $42,000, depending on the powertrains and trim levels.
According to a report, the two-door sport coupe will be offered with either a rear- or an all-wheel drive in three trim levels the moment it goes on sale this September. Next year, we’ll get to see the 400-horsepower Red Sport 400 with the pricing to come later before the launch.
The lineup for the Infiniti Q60 includes the 2.0t, 2.0t Premium, and 3.0t Premium models when the cars are released to the market in September. The 2.0t will have a starting price of $39,855 while its AWD version will go on sale for $41,855. The 2.0t Premium has more equipment, which means an increase to $42,205. Its AWD version will sell for $44,205.
All the 2.0t models will come with the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can produce 208 horsepower. Aside from this engine, some other standard features for the 2.0t include the 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, 8-way adjustable front seats, Bluetooth phone and streaming audio connectivity, and a rearview camera.
On the other hand, the Q60 2.0t Premium will enjoy a sunroof and a 13-speaker Bose audio system.
The 3.0t Premium will have a starting price of $45,205 while owning the 3.0t Premium AWD will cost you $47,205. Both of these 3.0t models have the VR-series twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that can churn out 300 horsepower.
The Red Sport 400 model will enjoy the same features as the 3.0t models, but with a 400-horsepower version of the engine.
All these prices will include a $905 delivery charge, according to Infiniti.
Those who want to get their hands on the Q60 sports coupe can place their order through the Reservation Program. Early bird registrants will also get a chance to have a gift from Infiniti. They can choose from: a GoPro Hero4 Silver camera, Rosewood Hotel one-night accommodation, a Bose SoundTouch 20 Series III Wireless Music System, Tumi Tegra-Lite carry-on luggage, and a specially curated culinary experience.
Is BMW Coming Up With A 4-Door M2 Gran Coupe?
Rumors have it that BMW is set to build a sedan version of the 2-Series, especially after the pronouncements made by the company’s head of development, Klaus Frohlich, to Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport.
With a sedan version of the 2-Series possible on the horizon, can we now dare to dream that a four-door BMW M2 Gran Coupe will also grace the company’s senses?
The UK publication Autocar believes that not only is a 2-Series Gran Coupe sedan possible, but an M version of it might also be in the works. Can you imagine what will be offered? You’ll get the M2 with a 365-horsepower engine, as well as two more doors.
It’s quite possible we’ll also see a hatchback version of the M2 Gran Coupe. That’s pretty incredible, right?
Reports also said that all versions of the 2-Series Gran Coupe will get an extended wheelbase, which would put the Gran Coupe somewhere between the regular 2-Series Coupe and the 3-Series Sedan. Both versions of the Gran Coupe are being planned for unveiling in 2019.
The expectation is that the four-door 2-Series would be sold in major markets since another model is bound to be exclusive to the Chinese market.
It can be remembered that late last year, BMW introduced the Concept Compact Sedan at China’s Guangzhou Auto Show. This has given us a preview of a Mini-based sedan with front-wheel drive. That would be the model built exclusively for the Chinese market.
The question, of course, would be the availability of the 2-Series sedan in the United States. Offering the 2-Series Gran Coupe in the US market would be wise step for BMW if it wants to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the Audi A3.
However, this would pose a serious problem with the presence of the 3-Series in the market. A 2-Series Gran Coupe could potentially affect the sales of the 3-Series.
The Brand New Audi S5 Revealed
Audi has finally revealed its brand new Audi A5 and S5 Coupes, which will give the BMW 4-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe a run for their money. The Audi S5 is decidedly faster, more efficient, and even lighter than before.
But this is exactly what we are expecting from the S5. Recently unveiled, the S5 followed Audi’s new design DNA with a flatter grille, long bonnet and shorter overhangs. The one that we have been most looking forward to is the S5, which is more powerful compared to the A5.
The new S5 will carry the 3.0-liter V6, which is now turbocharged to produce 349 horsepower, which is 20 horsepower more than the outgoing S5 Coupe. It also has an eight-speed auto—a standard fit for the four-wheel drive.
The Audi S5 is so equipped that it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds. In comparison, the closest the BMW can get is the 440i, which has 322 horsepower and can go 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds or 5.4 seconds for the auto transmission.
As for the Mercedes-Benz, it got the AMG C43, which produces 362mph and can go 0-62mph in just 4 seconds.
On the other hand, the regular A5, which is more likely to be the more popular of the two coupes, will have the option of either a 2.0-liter turbo petrol or a 2.0-liter diesel. You may also choose a pair of 3.0-liter TDIs with power ranging from 187bhp to 282bhp.
For the lesser cars, there’s the option of a six-speed manual or seven-speed auto. The diesel option and the S5 can get the eight-speed transmission.
The cars will come with an all-new chassis, which can be equipped with adaptive dampers and dynamic steering. Either way, the A5 will have no trouble handling “narrow, winding mountain roads and long trips on the Autobahn with equal aplomb.”
BMW Upgrades M235i, Gets New M240i Moniker
BMW is set to update the six-cylinder M235i coupe and its convertible sibling for the year 2017. It will reportedly receive an upgrade of a 15-horsepower increase through an all-new turbocharged inline-six engine.
And since BMW is at the habit of changing their vehicles’ names once it adopted a new engine, the M235i is expected to be called the M240i once it gets fitted with the 3.0-liter inline-six engine that debuted in 2016.
We don’t have much information about the coupe, but we’ve got a couple of expectations about the convertible, which will have a new infotainment system and slightly revised exterior.
For the most part, the BMW M240i should look like the outgoing M235i, especially on its sexy waistline, the signature kidney beam grille, the aggressive air dam, and corner air inlets.
Expected changes, however, would include slightly reshaped headlights, taillights, and the front and rear fascias. On the side, BMW might tweak the side skirts a little.
The convertible will most probably sit a little lower (by half an inch) because of the M Sport suspension, and it will ride on 18-inch M light-alloy wheels with double-spoke design.
For the interior, we shouldn’t be expecting too much. It will have the usual three-spoke M-branded steering wheel, as well as brushed metal inserts on door pull handles, trim inserts on steering wheel spokes, and trim on the center console and dashboard. If you don’t like metal inserts, you can opt for the wood and carbon fiber inserts.
The seats would be finished in Alcantara with blue contrast stitching, the same used on the leather wrapped around the steering wheel.
The M240i is rumored to have a new infotainment technology. The screen size would be the same, but it should come with a Wi-Fi hotspot, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
The M240i will have a starting price at around $50,000, a mild increase from the M235i.
2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe Priced At $43,000
The all-new 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe, the entry-level C-class two-door, is priced at $43,575, according to sources. But what most people don’t know is that they can save $500 off that price by simply exchanging the standard 18-inch wheels for the 17-inch ones.
Chopping off that $500 means the new rear-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe will start at $43,075 with destination. This is the same option available for the all-wheel drive 4MATIC coupe, which sells for $2,000 more. But for this, the downsizing wheels is not an option because the C300 sedan is already fitted with the 17-inch wheels.
Aside from the 18-inch wheels, the C300 Coupe also comes with such standard equipment like the Bluetooth, HD radio, a 7.0-inch display, eight-way power seats, aluminum trim, and forward-collision alert with automatic braking.
As for the drivetrain, there’s the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 241 horsepower and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
If you’ve got deeper pockets, you can go for the Premium 1 package for $2,300. The inclusions? A backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry and push-button start, six months of SiriusXM, and a 13-speaker 590-watt Burmester stereo.
The Premium 2, costing $4,500, will bring to your C300 Coupe the Premium 1 goods plus an 8.4-inch screen with navigation and a touchpad, three years of map updates, live traffic and weather, ambient lighting, illuminated AMG door sills, power-folding mirrors, and a power-closing trunk with foot-gesture controls.
If active safety features are important for you, then get the Premium 3 package for $7,400. This will come with an adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and Brake Assist Plus that uses the Pre-Safe system that can prep your car if someone rear-ends you.
This package also includes automatic high-beams, traffic-sign recognition, LED headlights, and a perfume atomizer for the air conditioning.
Additional (but separate) features are priced as follows: heated front seats ($580), leather upholstert ($1,620), and ventilated seats ($1,030).
The Sport package, priced at $1,675, can be combined with any of the other Premium packages. This includes summer rubber tires, cross-drilled front brake rotors, a stiffer suspension, aluminum pedals, MB-Tex on the dash, and a more aggressive body kit with chrome “diamonds” on the grille.
Then, there’s also the Night package, which includes the Sport package but with black exterior trim and wheels for $300 more.
You can also opt for the Parking Assist package ($1,290) that brings 360-degree cameras, automatic parallel parking, and front and rear parking sensors.
Other features you can choose from are the Airmatic suspension ($1,190), a head-up display ($990), an illuminated star ($550), and the rear-seat side airbags ($670).
2017 Jaguar F-Type Comes With New Infotainment System and Engine
Jaguar‘s sporty two-door F-Type has been making waves since 2013 as a roadster and as a coupe. But although it has always been quite able, it is not time for an update.
The new F-Type is expected to be revealed next year at the Geneva Motor Show, according to TopSpeed. Although there are no exact details yet, spy shots of the new sports car at Nurburgring brings some vague but incredible upgrades that should apply on both the coupe and the convertible.
The F-Type’s greatest strength is in its styling, which was an original by British car designer Ian Callum. The low-slung and wide and long hood line with the angled roof are all perfect sports car designs. The overall styling combines elegance and athleticism.
The new F-Type won’t go too far from the original. There’s a downsized grille, covered intakes in the sides of the bumpers, and dual, blade-shaped inlets.
The spy shots’ camo wrap doesn’t let us see more, but the new units appear larger, moving horizontally towards the edge of the fenders. It adds an extra visual width to the front end.
We expect the headlights to be reshaped, and converted to LED daytime running lights plus an option for adaptive high/low beams.
No major changes are expected on the sides and tails, except for the taillights and few alterations on the rear bumper.
Inside, the F-Type has a two-seat layout while the driver can enjoy a three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel, plus well-bolstered sports seats in premium leather.
Minor upgrades are expected on the interior layout with the dashboard possibly being reshaped. The major change would come in the form of the centrally mounted touchscreen and the driver’s into screen in the gauge cluster.
Since there are no details yet on the drivetrain, we are expecting the current lineup–a 340-horsepower V-6 in the base model and Premium, a 380-horsepower V-6 in the S and S AWD, a 550-horsepower V-8 in the R, and a 575-horsepower V-8 in the SVR.
Options for transmission consist of a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic with paddles.
Currently, the F-Type range starts at $61,400 for the base coupe and $128,800 for the SVR convertible.
1964-1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe Can Hit 190MPH
Caroll Shelby’s dream of making the world’s fastest super car came true with his partnership with AC along with long-time associates at Ford Motor Company—the creator.
According to Top Speed, that created the Shelby AC Cobra, but that wasn’t nearly enough for Shelby who through his years of racing in Europe and North and South America throughout the 1950s dreamed to outrun every sports car there is.
With the Shelby AC Cobra not being able to outrun the Enzo Ferrari and the Ferrari 250 GTO, Shelby had Pete Brock design a more lightweight and aerodynamic body for the AC Ace. This allowed for higher top speeds at Le Mans’ Mulsanne Straight.
The design finally worked, and thus born the Shelby Daytona Coupe. The car’s debut race would be the 1964 Daytona Continental 2000 at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
The AC heritage is evident in the design of the coupe. Brock’s design certainly made for a unique exterior. Similar to the Ferrari 250 GTO, the Daytona’s nose is pointier. The headlights are covered in plastic while the large grille was designed for higher top speeds.
The design of the Daytona is pure racecar. It is not made for comfort, but for racing alone.
Like Shelby’s other creations, the Daytona will house the Ford V-8 engines. But to ensure higher speed, Shelby made the coupe’s rear axles beefed up to withstand the torque from the 4.7-liter V-8 engine. It also has a 3.07 ring and pinion gear, as well as the same suspension system from the AC Shelby Cobra Mark II.
The main competition for the Daytona Coupe is the 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO. The two share the same design, including the fastback rear window, covered headlights and the small oval grille down low. This Italian racer is packing 3.0-liter V-12 engine that can produce 302 horsepower, and can race at 190mph on the Mulsanne Straight.
Only six of the Shelby Daytona Coupes were built. You can see an unrestored but mechanically reconditioned one at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Phildelphia. That car is worth $4 million.
Mercedes-Benz Mildly Updates CLA Coupe and CLA Shooting Brake
The sign of a successful car is an almost invisible midway into its life. You know you’re making a good choice in buying a particular vehicle if the company has a reputation of improving the current version even before a new model comes out.
Mercedes-Benz is doing us all a favor in putting mild adjustments on its CLA four-door coupe and its Shooting Brake version. Although even owners of the coupe and the Shooting Brake may not be able to tell the difference, it’s still a welcome development for those who have yet to get their hands on the Merc.
The marketing materials from the company pointed out that there’s a new coat hook in the CLA’s grab handles, but that only means the car is evolving rather than introducing new technologies.
Of course, there are highlights, and these are quite literal, in a sense. With the update, Mercedes lovers can expect new LED high performance headlights that use less than half of the energy of equivalent xenons. That speaks of the Merc’s ability to adjust itself to calls for more eco-friendly vehicles.
These said headlights also offer a kind of illumination that is almost similar to natural daylight. This would be then helpful to people who usually find it hard maneuvering through dark streets—something the company can address succinctly by merely changing the headlights.
Then, there’s the suspended mid-air media screen that is smarter and slender than the previous version. It might not be that big of a deal for some, but it’s perfect for one’s line of vision.
The CLA has a new engine, too. The cheapest is the CLA180 diesel that emits just 89g/km of CO2, roughly the same as the Prius. It comes in front wheel drive and manual transmission.
As you go up the range, there’s AWD and automatic transmission, the most powerful of which is the CLA45 AMG models that has the same updated 376bhp 2-litre petrol turbo engine as the A45 AMG.
The CLA Coupe will debut next week at the New York Motor Show while the CLA Shooting Brake will launch in April at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Berlin. Deliveries of both start in July.
2016 Honda Civic Coupe Starts At $19,885
Honda traditionally gives its Coupe buyers a bit of a discount for halving the number of doors, but that stops now. The new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe will start at $19,885 for the base LX trim with a six-speed manual transmission according to CarAndDriver.
To be blunt, that’s $410 higher than the 2016 Civic sedan LX manual. The price difference might not be that high but Honda has taken a different step here in pricing the coupe more than the sedan.
Well, to be fair to Honda, the two models aren’t similar exactly. The coupe will sport the standard alloy wheels while the sedan LX will make do with steel wheels and wheel covers.
Both come with the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and if you want the CVT automatic option, it would add $800 to the LX coupe’s and sedan’s standard lines. This is another new step for Honda since other coupe trims offer only a CVT.
As you move up the range of the coupe and the sedan, the prices would vary since the trim-level structure isn’t exactly similar to that of the sedan. The coupe’s exclusive LX-P trim starts at $21,684 and includes passive entry, remote start, push button ignition, as well as a sunroof.
The coupe EX-T, on the other hand, has turbocharged engine, heated seats and other features for $23,135, or $100 more than the EX-T sedan. The EX-L coupe, which costs $24,260 or $275 less than the EX-L sedan, also includes leather seats.
If you opt for the coupe, you won’t be getting as a standalone option the Honda Sensing active-safety features, which costs $1,000. Also, systems such as the adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and lane-keep assist would only be available on the top-trim Civic coupe Touring, which is priced at $26,960.
The Civic coupe will be available starting next week on March 15. Honda will also launch an online configuration tool for the couple.
Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe Finally Arrives
The Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe is back 19 years after it introduced the second AMG-tuned C-class that brought the V8 flag with 306 bhp 4.3-litre V8. It can go 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
However, that was in 1997. This year, Mercedes comes back with the C43 badge, featuring a warmed-over C-Class Coupe that is second fiddle to the full-fat C63.
Officially called the Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe, this super machine uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that can produce 362 bhp and 384 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Its four-wheel drive runs 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds, just 0.8 seconds slower than the 503 bhp C63 S Coupe, with a top speed of 155 mph.
The Mercedes-AMG C43 4MATIC Coupe shares its engine with the Mercedes GLE450 AMG Coupe, but is still boasts of a distinct individuality as it was imbued full Mercedes-AMG status.
It might not be the C63, but it can definitely handle itself well.
The 4MATIC all-wheel drive system has a rear-biased 31:69 torque distribution, three-stage adaptive dampers like the C63’s, and “Dynamic Select” drive modes such as Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual.
Expect the front axle to have new steering knuckles with the brakes at a bigger 360mm at the front and 320mm at the rear. This is significantly a step up from the standard C-Class Coupe.
Outside, the “C63-lite” badge is replaced with the “BITURBO-4MATIC” lettering on the flanks. The bodywork, on the other hand, is pimped with exhaust pipes and boot lip spoiler.
The C43 will start to drop in early April with an estimated price of £47,000, which is £20,000 cheaper than its brother. For those who are willing and able to shell out that much money, April is your chance to do so.
