3 Things You Have To Know About The 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake
If you have money to burn (we’re assuming a Jaguar is only for the moneyed, okay?), then the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake is definitely something you need to have. Spy shots of a new XF wagon from Jaguar was seen being tested in Nurburgring and some surrounding roads.
Called the XF Sportbrake, the wagon will be the next generation of its predecessor unveiled last 2012. But unlike the current model in the market, this one is finally going to be sold in the United States.
Competition
You’ll want to know which brands the Jaguar is competing with this particular wagon of theirs, right? Well, it seems like based on specs and designs alone, the XF Sportbrake will be vying with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon, the Volvo V90, and the Porsche Panamera wagon, which is yet to be unveiled.
Future
This particular model is going to be the last body style for the current XF. The standard sedan versions were released in 2015 while in 2016, we saw the long-wheelbase XF L for the Chinese market. As for the XE sedan? There’s not going to be a wagon version of that, unfortunately. This was confirmed by Jaguar design head Ian Callum.
Power
We still don’t know exactly what’s under the hood of the XF Sportbrake. There’s a good chance, though, that Jaguar launches an XF SVR Sportbrake. This will the successor to the original XFR-S Sportbrake.
The XF SVR and the XFR-S Sportbrake will most likely offer the supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine in the F-Type SVR. This engine can produce a whopping 575 horsepower.
The 2012 XF Sportbrake was one of Jaguar’s most successful wagons. It’s only fitting that Jaguar builds its predecessor. It will most likely launch in the second half of 2017, probably at the September Frankfurt Auto Show.

4 Things We Noticed About The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace Crossover
Spy shots of the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace Crossover showed a number of details about this latest crossover from the British automaker. The E-Pace is a little bit smaller than the F-Pace, and will be similar in size to the XE four-door.
According to analysts and reports, these all-wheel drive crossovers are the reason why Jaguar’s US sales have been toppling that of luxury giants such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Thanks to the presence of all-wheel drives throughout the range, more people are going to Jaguar for their all-season vehicles.
1. Platform
The platform to be used in the E-Pace is some kind of variation of the one underneath Land Rover’s Land Rover Discovery Sport. The platform is front-drive based, though this might not be a problem at all for consumers who simply want a crossover that looks stylish and has an elevated seating position at the same time.
The spy shots showed that the E-Pace will probably have slender headlights, squarish grille opening, aggressive air intakes, and a raked rear window. Since we’re seeing an aggressive roofline, we don’t expect this crossover to have a third-row seating.
2. Powertrain
The E-Pace is armed with a turbocharged inline-four engine with a ZF-sourced nine-speed automatic transmission. There’s no word yet on what drive system, aside from all-wheel drive, will be available.
3. Competition
As expected, the E-Pace Crossover will be competing with the Audi Q3, the BMW X1, the Infiniti QX30, and the Lexus NX.
4. Arrival And Pricing
Early this 2017, we can expect the E-Pace Crossover to be revealed by Jaguar. But it wouldn’t be available until the end of this year when it will be delivered to showrooms and auto dealers nationwide.
There are no details about the pricing but based on the competition like the Audi and the BMW, we can expect the E-Pace Crossover to be in the mid-$30,000 range.
Top 3 Expectations About The 2019 Jaguar I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV concept was unveiled during the Los Angeles Auto Show last week. Days after, a test mule for the production version has been spotted and reviews and speculations are in order.
Although this wasn’t the first time the test mule was spotted in the wild, this one was different since the production design seems to be final. The launch, according to reports, will be somewhere in the middle of 2018 with this being a 2019 model.
1. New Platform
The test mule used the body of an F-Pace SUV, though Jaguar said this was not the same platform that will be used for the production version of the I-Pace. The front design has the usual grille opening, which design is far different from the one we see on the F-Pace. There are also no air vents on either side of the bumper anymore. The wheelbase was stretched, the track was widened and the roof has been lowered.
The platform that will be used on the I-Pace will have the “skateboard” design. This will allow the battery to sit in the floor and power the electric motors on both axles. The production of the I-Pace will be in a different plant from the F-Pace, probably at the Magna Steyr of Australia.
2. Electric Power
The I-Pace will feature a 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery paired with two 200-horsepower electric motors that has a range of up to 220 miles. Reports said that the I-Pace can go 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds.
Rivals of the I-Pace include the Tesla Model S, an upcoming electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, and the possible electric version of the next-generation Audi S7.
3. Pioneer in Jaguar
Jaguar just announced that its diving into a series of vehicles with mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric flavors. Along with its sister company Land Rover, Jaguar will be focusing on heralding a new breed of sedans for the environment-conscious consumers. Land Rover will focus on the hybrids while Jaguar is working on the electric vehicles.

For one, though details are scarce because the prototype was heavily camouflaged, it has an untouched front design as compared to the changes made on the sedan and the rear end is now significantly longer.
Jaguar was Hesitant
Jaguar was, at first, hesitant to introduce a wagon variant of their business saloon because competition is tough in the segment, especially with German competitors such as the E-Class Estate, the Audi A6 Avant and the 5 Series Touring. These are all well-established models, especially in their hometown of Germany. But another thing that made Jaguar hesitant was that the market seems to be declining with regards to this particular segment.
But, of course, Jaguar did not simply give up. They already have experience with a competent family wagon that has an appealing and interesting design, and the Jaguar XF Sportbrake is no different. There is no word yet on how the 2018 model will be patterned, though the proportions hidden by the camouflage in the spy shots clearly hint similarity with its predecessor. With the chiseled design of the 2016 XF in mind, there is already a clearer picture of how this new XF Sportbrake will look like.
Changes are Internal
Not much are changing in terms of the overall exterior look of the XF Sportbrake. Instead, adjustments and modifications are all happening under the hood (and maybe even in the interior setup). The XF Sportbrake will be based on the XF sedan, which explains the identical front.
Rumored V8 Might Be True
The XF Sportbrake will be made of aluminum material, making it lighter in weight. It will come with the Ingenium four- and six-cylinder diesel and gasoline engines, as well as a rumored plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Also in the pipeline is a possible 5.0-liter V8 with a production of either 550 horsepower or 575 horsepower, just like what Jaguar did with the F-Type SVR.
Land Rover Defender Will Make Comeback, Thanks to Chemicals Tycoon
Six months after the Land Rover Defender rolled off at the company’s Solihull plant, it looked like it will be making a comeback, thanks to investments from billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.
The billionaire businessman, who is a chemical tycoon, is reportedly in talks with Jaguar Land Rover in hopes of resurrecting the model. It is still not clear if Ratcliffe is interested in buying the intellectual property of the model or parts of the production line.
According to The Sunday Times, the billionaire’s dream is to build the Defender in the United Kingdom. There are no details from the two sides about the negotiations.
Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, a £3.2-billion company, might move into producing vehicles as evidenced by his interest on the Defender. Talks with Land Rover only proved earlier reports that Ratcliffe is looking to venture outside the chemical industry, where he made most of his fortune.
It can be remembered that Land Rover stopped the production of the 66-year-old Defender earlier this year because of increasing stringent emissions requirements, as well as modern day crash regulations and low volume sales.
The next-generation model of the Defender is reportedly due in 2018 and 2019. Apparently, it will have two wheelbases and several bodystyles.
Meanwhile, Jaguar Land Rover said the opening of its new £20-million Special Vehicles Operations (SVO) Technical Center will allow for the development and production of SVR models. The company plans to make the center the birthplace of SVR models from now until 2020.
Currently, the division has three models—the Range Rover Sport SVR, the Range Rover SVAutobiography, and the Jaguar F-Type SVR. It is planning a fourth model, a Land Rover model, which will be due before this year ends.
According to Land Rover Managing Director John Edwards, the facility was inspired by a Formula 1 engineering center.
2016 Jaguar XF Receives Comprehensive Upgrade
The XF was Jaguar’s most-awarded car after it was introduced at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Eight years later, Jaguar decided that the sporty luxury sedan needs a change, introducing it at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
Its design is largely based on the previous model, though the XF received a much more comprehensive upgrade since it’s now lighter and quicker according to a report.
Up front, there are narrower full-LED headlights, larger central air intake and more pronounced lower intakes. The taillights also received upgrades with longer and thinner units that emphasize the car’s width.
The XF is considerably lighter, thanks to Jaguar’s new architecture. This means the vehicles are now made of 75 percent aluminum, resulting to weight savings of about 132 pounds on the RWD model and 265 pounds on the AWD model. The new XF is 176 pounds lighter than its competitions.
Inside, the XF has larger legroom, knee room and headroom because of the wheelbase that now extends to 116.5 inches. At least for this segment, Jaguar bragged that it has the best rear seat and cabin space.
There are a number of infotainment gadgets—InControl Touch system that features a vehicle-optimized app suite, smartphone remote control, and the 8-inch touchscreen or the optional 10.2-inch touchscreen that comes with a quad-core processor, Ethernet connection, smooth graphics, and improved responsiveness.
It also comes with Dual View technology, meaning the passenger can watch DVD while the driver uses the display screen for navigation.
Other interior features include the laser heads-up display and the 825-watt digital surround sound stereo with no less than 17 speakers.
Drivetrains are now more varied than ever. Choices are: an Ingenium 2.0-liter four-cylinder oil burner, a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6 diesel, two supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 gasoline engines, and the rumored V-8 engine.
The Ingenium offers two power levels—160 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, or 177 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque—while the twin turbo diesel can go for 296 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, the two supercharged V-6 produces 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.
The 2016 Jaguary XF will have a starting price of $51,900 for the 3.0L Supercharged V6, 340hp and $62,700 for the 3.0L Supercharged V6, 380hp.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace SVR To Come Soon?

Supercars cannot simply stay as they are. Customers are requiring much more in terms of performance, reliability and technology. Brands such as Porsche, Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini have all answered the call for a sporty SUV. Now, Jaguar has also heard the need for it and recently unveiled plans for the F-Pace SUV.
But rumor has it that there’s a new player in town—a V8-powered called the SVR. This is a quick turnaround for Jaguar considering it has just started production of the SUV.
If it becomes a real thing, we should see the SVR being unveiled as early as next year’s Geneva International Motor Show.
Outside, the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is expected to be more muscular than the existing crossover SUV. The front bumper would have larger intakes with a chrome accent along the lower center grille and a glossy black insert.
Although the LED-equipped headlights would remain the same, the hood would get black vents. The tail-side of the front fenders would also have vents in all-black. Other features would include a front splitter, side skirt extensions and rear diffuser.
Inside, the sporty SVR would expectedly have a luxury-laden cabin that uses high-end materials and high-tech amenities. The infotainment system would include the InControl system—navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and smartphone app support.
To control it, you would have to use the large touchscreen on the center console. There are also some buttons on the three-spoke steering wheel. Options would include new upholstery colors, plus driver’s aides like automatic braking, lane-keep assist, parking assist, and carbon fiber trim.
The current F-Pace has three options, but the SVR would naturally require more in the tune of two additional supercharged cylinders in Jaguar’s tried-and-true 5.0-liter V-8. The output levels should match the Range Rover at 542 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque.
Expect the SVR to hit 60 mph in the low four-second range with a top speed of 160 mph.
The regular F-Pace starts at $40,990 and goes up to $56,700. The SVR would most likely add $20,000 on the base model.
2017 Jaguar F-Type Comes With New Infotainment System and Engine
Jaguar‘s sporty two-door F-Type has been making waves since 2013 as a roadster and as a coupe. But although it has always been quite able, it is not time for an update.
The new F-Type is expected to be revealed next year at the Geneva Motor Show, according to TopSpeed. Although there are no exact details yet, spy shots of the new sports car at Nurburgring brings some vague but incredible upgrades that should apply on both the coupe and the convertible.
The F-Type’s greatest strength is in its styling, which was an original by British car designer Ian Callum. The low-slung and wide and long hood line with the angled roof are all perfect sports car designs. The overall styling combines elegance and athleticism.
The new F-Type won’t go too far from the original. There’s a downsized grille, covered intakes in the sides of the bumpers, and dual, blade-shaped inlets.
The spy shots’ camo wrap doesn’t let us see more, but the new units appear larger, moving horizontally towards the edge of the fenders. It adds an extra visual width to the front end.
We expect the headlights to be reshaped, and converted to LED daytime running lights plus an option for adaptive high/low beams.
No major changes are expected on the sides and tails, except for the taillights and few alterations on the rear bumper.
Inside, the F-Type has a two-seat layout while the driver can enjoy a three-spoke, multi-function steering wheel, plus well-bolstered sports seats in premium leather.
Minor upgrades are expected on the interior layout with the dashboard possibly being reshaped. The major change would come in the form of the centrally mounted touchscreen and the driver’s into screen in the gauge cluster.
Since there are no details yet on the drivetrain, we are expecting the current lineup–a 340-horsepower V-6 in the base model and Premium, a 380-horsepower V-6 in the S and S AWD, a 550-horsepower V-8 in the R, and a 575-horsepower V-8 in the SVR.
Options for transmission consist of a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic with paddles.
Currently, the F-Type range starts at $61,400 for the base coupe and $128,800 for the SVR convertible.
Turbo Fast Jaguar F-Type SVR Launched
Boasting a speed of 567 bhp, 200 mph, the all-wheel drive Jaguar F-Type SVR can get your from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. That, in a nutshell, is how to sell this new monster machine, the first Jag to carry the SVR badge—named after the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations group.

The chassis also had an upgrade to make sure this one’s going to compete well with other of its kind in the market. It has a new set of dampers and anti-roll bars, as well as stiffer suspension knuckles, wider tyres and lightweight wheels. You can also expect a standard Adaptive Dynamics, Torque Vectoring and stability control and “bespoke calibrations” for the 8-speed auto and all-wheel drive.
Outside, it looks meaner than ever, although the company hasn’t gone full rock-on weird yet with the styling. Ian Callum’s penmanship can be seen on the aesthetic designs of one of the most beautiful sports cars on the road today.
Jaguar said the pricing would begin around $126,000 (£110,000 for the Coupé and £115,485 for the Convertible), firmly putting this on the 911 Carrera GTS level. The company has released full specifications, features and photos for this machine.
Anyone wanting to get their hands on the Jaguar F-Type SVR will have to wait until this year’s summer.
